DIY to replace the cars headlight bulb
Repairing a car is not easy for most people, but you can still consider doing it yourself instead of going to the car dealership to do some simple things such as changing the bulb of the car headlight.
There are two major types of car bulbs on the market, one is the traditional Halogen (https://amzn.to/351VwSS), and the other is the LED light. However, there are different traffic laws in different countries and different provinces, some light bulbs may not be allowed by local laws.
Some LED lights are not allowed to be used because they are too bright and affect other drivers to drive. And if your car came with traditional halogen bulbs, then if you want to change to LED bulbs, you may need to do extra works such as replacing the wiring, which is more troublesome. Therefore, before changing the bulbs in your car, you have to so some readings and searchings to know what bulbs your car uses.
The following is an example of replacing the headlight bulb of a car by ourselves. Because our car was originally equipped with a halogen bulb, we were too lazy to spend time to research whether the LED bulb can be used. We still bought a halogen bulb, which makes our things easier and more safe.
We bought Philips halogen bulb, you can go to the dealer to buy it, or you can buy it online. Philips car bulbs are generally reliable in quality, but the price is slightly more expensive.
First of all, we need to find the location of the headlights. The picture below is an example of a common model in North America. The arrow points to the tail of the headlights. Open the front cover of the car, we can see it on the side of the front.
Pulling out the broken bulb first. As for how to pull it out, you'd better read the manual of your car first. Normally, we can just simply turn it counterclockwise or clockwise and then pull it out. However, it is recommended that you check the car manual first.
The following is a new car bulb we bought. Please look carefully, our hand did not touch the glass part of the bulb, there was a layer of wrapping paper. Remember! Be sure not to touch the glass part of the car bulb! The grease on your hands will accelerate the bulb burnout and shorten the life of the bulb. Of course, the black tail of the light can be touched by our hands, and we must hold that part when installing.
This is how the whole Philips halogen bulb looks.
The picture below is the car light "socket" in the car, we can just plugin the headlight bulb, and then install it back to the original position of the car headlight. Done!
